Wall-mounted TV with no visible cables in a Brisbane living room

TV wall mounting in Nundah, priced before we drill

Nundah mixes pre-war Queenslanders, post-war brick and a run of newer apartments around the village, and each one wants a different fixing. We match the bracket to the wall in front of us, conceal the cables where the wall allows, and give you a fixed price in one phone call.

What Nundah is built from

Three kinds of wall, three kinds of job

Nundah grew in layers, and the layer decides how the TV goes up. These are the walls we meet most often within the 4012 postcode.

Queenslanders and workers’ cottages

The streets off Buckland Road and around the older part of the suburb are timber: tongue-and-groove VJ boards over hardwood studs, high ceilings, and often no cavity behind the boards. The fixing goes through the boards into the studs, never into the boards alone, and the cable run is planned around the lack of a cavity rather than pretending there is one.

Post-war brick and chamferboard

The 1950s to 70s homes are mostly brick veneer over a timber frame, with some chamferboard. Brick veneer looks like solid brick from inside and is not: the bracket fixes to the frame behind the skin. Chamferboard behaves like VJ. Both are quick once identified, and identifying them is the part most installers skip.

Apartments around Nundah Village

The newer blocks along Sandgate Road and around the station are steel stud with gyprock, with the occasional concrete or besser wall. Steel stud takes a spanning plate for larger screens rather than a coach screw; concrete takes sleeve anchors. Cables usually go in-wall on stud, in surface duct on concrete.

The Topline Price Promise

A fixed price on the phone, and the quote is the invoice

Every mounting job is priced on your actual wall, screen and cable run: a free, fixed number in one call, no site-visit fee and nothing added on the day. Already have a written quote from an insured installer? Show us and we beat it. The quote always covers set-out at your preferred height, stud or masonry location, a bracket fixed across at least two studs or into structural masonry, the screen hung, levelled and locked, every source tested in front of you, and the room left clean. The full wall-by-wall detail is on the Brisbane TV wall mounting page.

Nundah questions

Asked from Nundah, answered straight

Send a photo of the wall and tell us the street style of the house. That is usually enough to price it.

Can you mount a TV on VJ walls without damaging them?

Yes, and it is the question that matters most in Nundah’s older homes. VJ boards are 12 to 19 mm of timber, often with no cavity behind them, and a bracket screwed to the boards alone will bow them over time. We locate the studs behind the boards and fix through to them, so the load sits on the frame and the original boards stay flat and unsplit. If you would rather not fix into original VJ at all, say so on the phone and we will price the alternatives.

I am in a Nundah apartment. Do I need body corporate approval?

Not for a bracket on an internal wall inside your own lot, which is what almost every apartment mount is. Approval only comes into it if the work touches common property, which for a TV means a concrete party wall that also carries services, or any external wall. Newer blocks near the village are usually steel stud with the occasional concrete wall; both are routine. The approval guide covers the edge cases.

How quickly can you get to Nundah?

Nundah is about 18 km from our Mango Hill base, straight down the Gateway or Sandgate Road, so it is an ordinary metro booking: same-week as standard, often sooner, and we are open every day including weekends. A photo of the wall and the room usually lets us price it in one call without a site visit.
