Wall-mounted TV with no visible cables in a Brisbane living room

TV wall mounting in Boondall, fixed to what is really behind the wall

Boondall is mostly 1960s to 80s housing: lowset brick veneer, chamferboard and fibro, with newer townhouses near the station. The wall you can see is rarely the wall that carries the load, so we find the frame or the masonry first, then quote a fixed price and stick to it.

What Boondall is built from

Mid-century suburbia, done properly

The 4034 postcode was largely built out between the 1960s and the 1980s, and the walls follow that era. Each has one trap.

Lowset brick veneer

The Boondall standard. A brick skin over a timber frame, so the bracket coach-screws into the studs behind the brick, found with a stud finder and confirmed with a fixings test. Anchoring into a veneer skin alone is the failure you read about; we do not do it.

Chamferboard and fibro

The timber-framed homes of the same era. Chamferboard behaves like VJ and fixes through to the studs. Fibro sheeting fitted before 1990 is treated as potentially containing asbestos: we do not drill it without checking, and we will talk through the alternatives on the phone before we book.

Townhouses near the station

Newer townhouses and small-lot homes bring steel stud, gyprock and Hebel party walls into the suburb. Hebel crushes under standard anchors and needs AAC-specific fixings and more of them, which is why it takes longer and carries a surcharge that we quote up front.

The Topline Price Promise

A fixed price on the phone, and the quote is the invoice

Every mounting job is priced on your actual wall, screen and cable run: a free, fixed number in one call, no site-visit fee and nothing added on the day. Already have a written quote from an insured installer? Show us and we beat it. The quote always covers set-out at your preferred height, stud or masonry location, a bracket fixed across at least two studs or into structural masonry, the screen hung, levelled and locked, every source tested in front of you, and the room left clean. The full wall-by-wall detail is on the Brisbane TV wall mounting page.

Is my Boondall house brick veneer or double brick, and does it matter?

It matters completely, and from inside you cannot tell. Most Boondall brick homes from the 60s to the 80s are brick veneer: a single skin of brick over a timber frame, so the bracket fixes to the frame behind it and an anchor into the brick alone would be a mistake. Double brick is structural and takes sleeve anchors into the brick face, never the mortar. We check with a fixings test before choosing, and the brick wall guide explains how to tell them apart yourself.

The wall is old fibro sheeting. Will you drill it?

Not without knowing what it is. Fibro sheeting fitted before 1990 may contain asbestos, and drilling it without checking is how a simple job becomes a health problem. Where the sheeting is suspect we talk through the options on the phone first: fixing through to the studs behind an internal gyprock wall instead, a different wall, or a licensed assessment before any work. We would rather lose a booking than drill blind.

How soon can you get to Boondall?

Boondall is about 12 km from our Mango Hill base, so it is one of the quickest suburbs for us to reach: same-week as standard, frequently next day, and we are open every day including weekends. Send a photo of the wall and the room and we can usually price it in one call.
