The number everyone wants first

The Brisbane market rate, honestly

The most transparent public benchmark is Airtasker’s Brisbane antenna data, where the median job sits around $165. That number is real, and it is also doing a lot of quiet work: it mixes quick realignments and wall-plate fixes in with genuine supply-and-install jobs, and marketplace tasks skew simple. A new antenna, supplied and installed on a straightforward single-storey roof typically lands well above that median once quality hardware, mounting, cabling checks and a signal test are included; complex jobs - two-storey, fringe-area high-gain, mast installs - sit higher again.

Anyone quoting one flat number for every Brisbane roof either has not seen your roof or is planning to renegotiate on it. Which is why we do not publish a rate card: we publish a price promise instead - a free fixed quote for your actual job, and if you get a written like-for-like quote cheaper, we beat it.

Why quotes differ

What actually moves the price

Cost drivers, from a Brisbane installer
FactorEffectWhy
Roof height and pitchUpTwo-storey and high-set Queenslander work is slower and needs more safety gear - the largest single multiplier
Your serving transmitterUp or downInner Brisbane on Mount Coot-tha's 50 kW is forgiving; a Darlington Range or fringe address needs a higher-gain UHF antenna, more precise aim, sometimes a mast - see our transmitter map
Antenna qualityUpA quality antenna and fittings outlast the cheap kit several times over - the cheap install is often the one you pay for twice
Cabling and outletsUpOld or water-damaged coax, extra points and splitters add materially - sometimes the cable, not the antenna, was the whole fault
AmplificationUpA masthead amplifier and power supply where the signal genuinely needs it - and honestly declined where it does not
Access and mountingUpChimney mounts, gable brackets and masts cost more than a standard fascia or roof mount

Repair versus replace is its own decision with its own economics - we wrote the repair-or-replace guide for exactly that call.

Spending it well

How to compare two antenna quotes

Make every quote answer the same five questions, in writing: What antenna, by name? Is all cabling and a wall plate included? Is the signal tested at the outlet and shown to you? What is the workmanship warranty, in years? Is the price fixed before work starts? A quote that dodges the antenna model or the warranty is not cheaper - it is just quieter about where the money went. Ours answers all five by default: fixed quote, named hardware, a before-and-after signal reading, and a 5-year workmanship warranty.

Questions

Cost FAQs

Why do antenna quotes vary so much in Brisbane?

Because the jobs vary that much: roof height, which transmitter serves you, antenna quality, cabling condition and amplification each move the number independently. Two identical-looking houses in different suburbs can legitimately be very different jobs - one points at a 50 kW site, the other at a 1.8 kW site behind a hill.

Is a cheap antenna install worth it?

Sometimes - a simple realignment genuinely is a small job. But on supply-and-install, a rock-bottom price usually means unnamed hardware, no signal test and no warranty. The install that fails in the first storm costs more than the one done properly once.

Do you charge a call-out fee?

Quotes are free and fixed before any work starts. The number you accept is the number you pay - and if the job turns out different on the roof, you hear the new number before we do the extra work.

Is antenna work covered by insurance after a storm?

Often, as part of a storm-damage claim on your building insurance. Photograph the damage before anything is touched and keep the assessment report - we can provide the technical fault report insurers ask for.
